Jessica
Today’s October 1st, and with chillier days and cloudy skies, it’s already looking like winter is not too far away. On a day like this, I can’t help but look back to the warmer seasons. This is a photograph of Jessica which I shot in April. I wish somehow we can skip winter and go straight to spring.

DreamLand NYC

About a week ago, a company called Dream Land launched its official website and presence to the world. Prior to the launch, I had the pleasure of getting to know the dream-driven team behind Dream Land and the amazing privilege to make their video introducing who they are and what they strive to do. I was inspired by the team’s determination and their goal to make others’ dreams a reality. I couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity and I can’t wait to see what these guys will achieve in the future.

Earlier this month, my friend and I went on to explore an abandoned grain terminal located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The place was deserted and once inside, we found some beautiful spaces and machines that dated back to the days when Red Hook was thriving with workers importing and refining grain and other supplies for locals. It was an exciting and somewhat dangerous adventure since we had to climb up 8 flights of rusty old iron stairs that had several steps missing - a small slip would’ve meant falling through several flights and crashing onto the cold concrete floor. Despite the risks, the climb was worth it when we reached the top and were able to discover the remains of the old factory and witness breathtaking views of Brooklyn and New York City.

There’s something special about this season of the year…the sun sets sooner, the air is slightly cooler, and everyone is outside enjoying the last days of warmth as they feel the signs of the coming fall…I captured this photograph while scouting for a shoot in Central Park and I absolutely love the emotions I feel from it. As a person who prefers warmer days, I’ll be spending my last few weeks of summer outside as much as I can. Perhaps I’ll go for a swim in the waters, one last time…

About 3 years ago, I had the opportunity of working on the Von Maur fashion shoot as an intern with Scott Lowden Photography. I shot some behind the scenes video footage during the shoot, just for fun really, and made a short fashion video. I showed it to Scott and as it turns out, Von Maur liked my video enough to buy my footages and used it as a part of their fashion campaign. I think that was the first time I got paid for my video work, and I was just really happy that a fashion brand like Von Maur would buy my work that was made purely out of my own personal pleasure…Fast forward to this summer, and I got an email from Scott asking if I could shoot the behind-the-scenes/fashion video for Von Maur, this time in New York City.  I was thrilled to be joining the shoot for Von Maur again. It was incredible to cover the motion aspect of the fashion shoot and a true joy to be working again with SLP, House of Current and the advertising manager from Von Maur. I’m so thankful for opportunities like these and to work alongside amazing people!

Diego and I spent a weekend photographing our friend, Annabelle, who is an active member at Dance For Change. I shot some footage of Annabelle dancing and thought it would be fun to make a short little video about her art - so here it is!
